I don't know about the centenary book, but there is a new biography out: Moses Montefiore: Jewish Liberator, Imperial Hero by Abigail Green. I have not read it, but it was recommended by Sir Montefiore's grand nephew, who works at Carmel Wine.

Wow - that's great - thanks for the information, is there anyway to see the book online? ... I am looking at the picture I have now under better lighting. It says ""The Centenary of Sir Moses Montefiore, 1884" and then an overview and mentioning something about Nov 9th of the same year on the occassion of her Majestys official visit to the city... ... See Moreand ends with something like1875 he made his seventh and last visit to the holy land. So I guess my family kept this as an historical token - will need to see how to care for it. I will definitely look into learning more about his works!

The picture used here was taken at his 100th birthday. On that occasion, Jews from throughout the world prepared a book in his honor with greetings from Jewish communities throughout the world. The book is now in the possession of a very fine gentleman in Toronto, Canada. I had the pleasure of seeing it. It contains signatures from every segment of Jewry: great rabbis, scholars, leaders. Montefiore was an outstanding figure, a figure that transcended everyone else in Jewish life at the time. We have long-term plans to make an animated film of his life, much like we've done on Rashi and the Rambam.

I have this picture of Montefiore in an old family photo album I think it was probably taken out of a newspaper article, as there is writing underneath it. Not sure why they put it in their album, although I think he was part of the Bevis Marks Synagogue which some of my family members married in.
In anycase, we need to remember that blood libels have exisited and still do outside of Europe.
