Myth implies pure fiction. Legend is often fact mixed with fiction. But even when we cannot sort out fact from fiction, legends still tell us a great deal about the people involved. Now they perceive themselves as losers, so they have swung toward the fanatic side and are fighting back. It's a terrible, vicious cycle.
