I couldn’t help but feel compelled to draw a comparison between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and those in power in American government and the overwhelming will of the citizenry of the people of America who stand in contradiction to them. There is a repetitive spiritual principal I think we see over and over… and I humbly submit that in order for civilization to thrive in G-d’s Blessings, we must forever maintain His Set Apart people, to protect them (The Pharisees/Tzaddikim) and create a protective hedge about them. The Pharisees in western culture are misrepresented, as stated above, they were truly righteous, showing mercy and grace in truth. It was the Sadducees who maintained an erroneous philosophy, contradictory to Torah, that allowed for pride to come in and defile and destroy. May we learn to apply this in every facet of our lives and communities…Guard Humility, Eschew Pride. Thank you for such an inspirational and informative article. BH’

And that may be why the Shoah took so many: I’m certain the filthy Nazis knew about this, and got the Jews of Europe, especially the leadership and the Zionist committees to cooperate. All to no avail. And I still leave the Jews blameless in all this. Rather, I blame Christianity. For that religion spawned and nourished its heresy of Naziism. It is difficult to know exactly but there is no doubt that Jews were in India even a few thousand years ago and intermarried with local people. It may very well be true that your group may have Jewish antecedents.

The word “Orthodox” was given to the religious Jews in the nineteenth century by the Reform and secular Jews as a term of criticism. It nevertheless was accepted by religious Jewry as a means of identifying itself. Hirsch’s group was called Neo-Orthodox because of its emphasis on secular studies and becoming part of the general German society while remaining strictly observant.The Orthodox not only in Germany but in Lithuania as well adopted modern dress in the late nineteenth century.
